“Don’t even try to tell me that so-and-so has an evil spirit! That’s just plain depression! It’s perfectly normal!”
Those of us in the deliverance ministry may hear these types of comments on regular bases. My first response is, how can they explain away the drastic difference that deliverance makes in the lives of those who are being set free? How can they explain the demonic manifestations as they occur when demons are driven out? Many times you don’t even know a demon is there until it is confronted and cast out! And since most believers have never confronted a demon before and cast it out, those spirits remain invisible to them. It’s sad that many of us have to see a body levitating (floating on air) or see a person’s eyes turn jet black and blood red before we stop to consider that perhaps this situation is indeed demonic.
Take for example a spirit of rebellion. Most people would say that a person has just turned out that way, and that it is solely a fleshly problem that is between them and God. A little while back, somebody came to us, reporting that their teenage son went to a rock concert and suddenly changed into a very rebellious young man, to the point where he would ‘switch’ personalities and not seem like the same person. Furthermore, he spent a night with a friend of his, and afterwards that friend also became very rebellious and even attempted suicide!
Many would say that this was simply a fleshly issue and perfectly normal, but I can assure you that cases like this are usually demonic. I recently confronted a spirit of rebellion in a young woman and within moments, I was in a face-to-face confrontation with a spirit of rebellion and began casting it out. It manifested in an undeniably demonic manner, which is something that would have puzzled many people today. Needless to say, the person walked away with a definite change in their personality!
How many cases like this take place today and the person ends up in jail, mental hospitals or even diagnosed with terminal cancer (which is almost always demonic)?
