Demons are like spiders
Today the Lord gave me a beautiful illustration of how sin and bondage.
When we walk off of God’s path, it is as if we are flying in a no-fly zone where very real danger exists. In that no-fly zone are spider webs, waiting to capture us as we land in them (fall into sin). Once we are caught in the spider’s web, a demon (spider) quickly comes out and begins to bind us up with cords of guilt, shame and embarrassment. After we are all tied down with such a burden, the demon effortlessly plunges his poisonous fangs into our lives and begins to suck the very life right out of us until we are dried up as a dead lifeless bug who was eaten alive by a spider.
In the spiritual world, demons prey on God’s people as a spider preys on it’s victims. When we tamper with sin, we are playing around in a no-fly zone, and are vulnerable to spiritual danger. Once the demons latch a hold of us, they do not want to let go… they will attempt to bind us up so tightly with guilt, shame and embarrassment, that we are unable to fight.
1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
But praise be to God, if we will face our mistakes, confess them and repent, we can receive deliverance from the bondages that our mistakes have landed us into!
