What to do with a prophecy
If God told you something or gave somebody a prophecy about you, then He foreknew your future and knew that you are going to fulfill that prophecy. Sometimes He may need to run us through some trials or ‘refining’ first, but He already knows that you will make it through and be equipped to handle what He has laid before you!
The purpose of prophecy is for edification…
1 Corinthians 14:3, “But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.”
God wants to edify you, that is, He wants to build you up, and encourage you. He wants to get you fired up about what He is going to do through you! But how are you edified if you don’t keep the prophecy current in your memory (or thoughts)? It becomes worthless to you if you forget it! It is important that we meditate, that is think of it often, and allow it to shape who you are and the way that you think!
God has called me and told me to go fourth and preach deliverance to the captives, and I can remember back to different times when the enemy has approached me and tried to convince me that it just won’t work out… but when I took hold of the prophecy that God gave me, it lifted me right back up, and strengthened me to keep going, and know what my future holds. He has ordained me to preach deliverance to the captives, and He knows that I am fit for the mission that He’s given me!
Have you ever had a prophecy given concerning your future? Perhaps the Lord has called you to preach, or be a youth pastor… maybe He’s shown you that He wants to use you in the ministry in general… have you been meditating on what He’s shown you? If you do, it will build you up, and strengthen you for the mission that the Lord has ahead for you!
